Health and Fitness Mental Circuits
Mental circuits are actually called “loops” and that is what your brain does when it is trying to make sense of something it doesn’t understand or wants to solve. You know the feeling. You’re trying to sleep and all that happens is thoughts go round and round inside your head all night in a never ending loop. No wonder you’re tired in the morning.
What do you do about those loops? If you can catch the tail end of the thought of one of them and spin it off into something different, like a present focus moment, that sometimes helps. Make yourself think about something in the “right now” and make yourself see all the “right now” details of what your are focusing on. This derails the squirrel cage in your brain and you will get some relief. Sure, you will slip in and out of the loop, but knowing you are able to actually break it makes a huge difference.
